PTCL DSL Broadband

Finally, finally, finally PTCL has started offering DSL services. The packages they are offering are pretty good and will give a tough time to other companies like Maxcom and Cybernet. As of writing this post, PTCL website had the following packages:

  • DSL-256Kbps Limited Access - Rs.1,199/month with 2GB limit
  • DSL-512Kbps Limited Access - Rs.1,999/month with 4GB limit
  • DSL-1Mbps Unlimited - Rs.4,999/month (cool right?)

I talked to their customer support at 0800-77888 and inquired about the 1Mbps package (I currently have 512 CIR - 6GB for Rs.5,250 from Maxcom and before this I had Multinet DSL) and PTCL said that under any circumstances I will be get speeds of 512Kbps or above! So immediately I applied through their website online form (it works on IE only - no Firefox!) and got an application number stating that I will get the connection in 3 days.

Thought I am personally happy with Maxcom, but I am suspecting that they are over charging me on volume and their package seems to be expensive now. Many other people have said the same so I have decided to switch to an unlimited package. Lets hope PTCL works good. And yes, the monthly DSL charges will be included in the telephone bill, so this will add a step of making life easier.

Will update the progress, keep reading and please do share any comments. Thanks!
